Prepare a PC for Lightspeed Retail POS (R or X Series)

This article will walk you through preparing your PC for use with Lightspeed Retail (R or X Series)..

Windows 11 Installation/Configuration

1. Setup the new PC with the keyboard, mouse and monitor.
2. Turn on the PC and go through the OOBE (Out Of Box Experience).
3. Connect the PC to either a wired or wireless network.
4. Install all available Windows Updates.
5. Install and update "Google Chrome".
6. Make "Google Chrome" the default browser, set window properties to Maximum and copy shortcut to the Taskbar.
7. Install Splashtop SOS at sos.splashtop.com and create a desktop shortcut.

Windows 11 AntiVirus Configuration

1. Update Windows Security (if not using Bitdefender).
2. Contact iPOS Support at either [phone] #3 or email [e-mail] if you choose to have Bitdefender installed.

Lightspeed R Series

1. Configure Google Chrome to start automatically.
2. Configure Google Chrome to automatically open the LSR login page.
3. Install, configure, and test POS peripherals as needed (receipt printer, label printer, barcode scanner, payment terminal).
4. Install and configure the Lightspeed Hub as needed (receipt printing and/or label printing).
5. Install the Nexus Dev Google Chrome extension (requires subscription).

Lightspeed X Series

1. Configure Google Chrome to start automatically.
2. Configure Google Chrome to automatically open the customer's unique LSX login page.
3. Install, configure, and test POS peripherals as needed (receipt printer, label printer, barcode scanner, payment terminal).
4. Install and configure the Lightspeed Hub as needed (label printing only).
5. Install the Nexus Dev Google Chrome extension (requires subscription).

BIOS

1. Check for and update the BIOS to the latest version.

Secure Boot/UEFI Certificate Updates

1. Update Secure Boot/UEFI Certificates.
