Lightspeed Hub is a desktop app that helps Lightspeed Retail connect to hardware such as receipt printers, label printers, and customer-facing displays.
Lightspeed Hub should remain running while you are using Lightspeed Retail.
Restarting Hub can help reset the connection and resolve hardware connectivity issues.

How Do I Know if Lightspeed Hub Is Running?
The easiest way to check is through Devices in Retail POS:
- Open Retail POS.
- Go to Devices in the main menu.
- Look at the status light next to Lightspeed Hub.
What the Colors Mean
- π’ Green β Hub is running and connected properly.
- π Orange β There is a connection issue.
- π΄ Red β Hub is disconnected.
You can also go to Devices β Open Lightspeed Hub to confirm that Hub is running on the computer.
Restart Lightspeed Hub
Step 1: Fully Close Lightspeed Hub
On your Windows computer:
- Look in the bottom-right corner near the clock.
- Click the ^ (Show hidden icons) arrow if needed.
- Find the Lightspeed Hub icon.
- Right-click the icon and select Quit or Exit.
If Hub is frozen:
- Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
- Find Lightspeed Hub.
- Select it and click End task.
Step 2: Reopen Lightspeed Hub
- Wait a few seconds.
- Open Retail POS.
- Go to Devices β Open Lightspeed Hub.
Tip: Opening Hub from the Devices menu helps establish the connection between Retail POS and your hardware.
Make Sure Hub Starts Automatically
To help prevent hardware connection issues, make sure Lightspeed Hub is set to launch automatically when the computer starts.
- Open Lightspeed Hub.
- Click Settings in the top-left corner.
- Select the Advanced tab.
- Make sure Launch Lightspeed Hub on computer startup is enabled.
This allows Hub to automatically connect your hardware to Retail POS when you start your computer or restart it.
If you're experiencing a connection issue with Hub or your hardware, you can clickΒ Reset dataΒ to reset and relaunch Hub to try and resolve the issue.
Educate Your Team
Make sure all staff know that Lightspeed Hub needs to remain running while using Retail POS.
Avoid manually closing Hub unless you are troubleshooting a connection issue or following instructions from iPOS Support.
