How to Setup a New APC Battery Backup Unit

  1. Open the box.

  1. Remove the AC cord from the cardboard packing and lay it outside the box in the upper right hand corner.

  1. Remove the top cardboard shipping piece from the box.

  1. Remove the new battery backup unit from the box.

  1. Remove the new battery backup unit from the bag.

  1. Flip the new battery backup unit onto its top side.

  1. Depress the two plastic tabs on the battery cover and pull the battery cover towards you.

  1. Remove the battery cover and put it to the side.

  1. Lay the new battery backup unit on its side and gently slide the battery towards you.

  1. Lay the battery down right side up and then remove the red positive battery cable from the side of the unit.

  1. Take the red positive battery cable and connect it to the red positive battery terminal on the battery.

  1. Lay the battery back down on its side and gently insert it into the battery backup unit.

  1. Make sure that the batter is flush with the unit and is seated properly.

  1. Flip the new battery backup unit on its face.

  1. Reinsert the battery cover and press it forward until it locks into place.

  1. Now the battery cover is back into place.

  1. Flip the new battery backup unit right side up.

  1. Plug the AC cord into an electrical outlet.

  1. Press and hold the circular power button for about 5 seconds until the status light turns solid green.

  1. You can now remove the yellow sticker and plug your devices into the battery backup/surge protection or surge protection only outlets as needed.
