[LSR] How to Make a Backup of Your Lightspeed Accoutning/Shogo Configuration for either LSR or LSX

Once you have completed the setup in Lightspeed Accounting or Shogo for either LSR or LSX, it is recommended that you make a backup of your configuration so that you have a copy of it going forward and can reference it should you need to reconfigure it in the future.

  1. Log into Lightspeed Accounting or Shogo (whichever you are using).

  1. On the top menu bar, click "Settings".

  1. Under "Settings", click "Accounting".

  1. If you have more than one company, click "View Details" for the one you want to backup.

  1. In the main window pane, click "Export Settings".

  1. In the upper right hand corner of your web browser, you will be shown the backup file that was downloaded.

  1. The backup file has been saved to your user's Downloads folder if you are using Windows.
  2. Open the downloaded file (an Excel spreadsheet).
  3. The spreadsheet has multiple tabs which can include SalesDiscounts/Returns/OffsetsOther ChargesTaxesPaymentsCash DrawerInventory & COGS and Purchase Orders.  Please note that the tabs available in the spreadsheet are dependent upon what options you have configured in the section named Settings->Accounting->General Settings.

  1. Each tab in the spreadsheet pertains to the mappings that you can make in Lightspeed Accounting or Shogo in the section named Settings->Accounting.

  1. Shown below are examples of the different tabs in the Excel spreadsheet.
  2. "Sales".

  1. "Discounts/Returns/Offsets".

  1. "Other Charges".

  1. "Cash Drawer".

  1. Please note that this backup does not cover the section named "General Settings" and that you will want to take screen shots and save them for your reference.
  2. On the top menu bar, click "Settings".

  1. Under "Settings", click "Accounting".

  1. If you have more than one company, click "View Details" for the one you want to backup.

  1. In the right section, click "General Settings".

  1. Take screen shots of the main window and save them until you have all of the settings documented for the section named "General Settings".

  1. After the backup was performed with the Excel spreadsheet and the screen shots taken for the section named "General Settings", you will want to save them to a dedicated folder for your Lightspeed Accounting/Shogo setup for reference.
