QuickBooks Point of Sale was discontinued on October 3, 2023.
If you have yet to transition to a new POS system, please review the action items below. iPOS will support QB POS users for as long as possible, but preparing and having an emergency plan in place is crucial.
- Install the latest patch update (R12 for QB POS v19) to ensure you are on the latest release for security updates and bug fixes
- Confirm and note your software license number and product key (should you encounter issues or need to reinstall in the future on another PC)
- In QB POS, go to Help > About QuickBooks Point of Sale Desktop
- Confirm and note your software validation code (should you need to reinstall in the future on another PC or due to issues)
-
- This will need to be obtained from Intuit QuickBooks Direct Support
- Chat with Intuit Support
- Call Intuit Support at 1-800-446-8848
- This will need to be obtained from Intuit QuickBooks Direct Support
-
- Backup your QB POS company file daily
- Export your list data for safe keeping regularly (including customers, vendors, and items)
- This information is crucial to your business and it is best to keep this updated in Excel for future migration to a new system and for your records
- Ensure that Windows Updates continue to be installed (both prior to the deadline and beyond)
- Operate using a Standard Windows User and NOT an Admin User
- Standard User accounts are for everyday computing. Administrator accounts provide the most control over a computer, and should only be used when necessary.
- Install BitDefender Internet Security to protect your PCs
- iPOS offers this ongoing service - please contact us for pricing and scheduling.
- If using Intuit Merchant Services, contact iPOS for a temporary integrated credit card processing solution. Since this solution will not be in place before the deadline, make preparations to use Intuit GoPayment in the interim.
- In order to be prepared, you will want to have your QuickBooks GoPayment ready for use. QuickBooks GoPayment is an app that can be installed on a Smart Phone, Tablet, or iPad and allows you to process credit cards with a bluetooth card reader (ordered directly from your merchantcenter.intuit.com account), scan cards with the devices camera (certain devices like a smart phone), and manually enter card information.
- You can install the app by going to the app store on the device you want to install it. After downloading the app, open the app and login using the same credentials you use to login in to Intuit Merchant Services in QB POS and update your token.
- If you do not have a GoPayment account, you can download the app on your device and create a new Account.
- Schedule your one-on-one meeting with iPOS to discuss your POS options and plans for the future.
